In an unanticipated  turn of events, veteran tactician Henry ‘Zagalo’ Omino has taken over at newly promoted Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side, Kisumu AllStars as new head coach.

Omino replaces former Kenya international, Francis ‘Killer’ Oduor who led the team to the Kenyan Premier League. Oduor will now serve as one of  Zagalo’s assistants as the Kisumu county  government sponsored team begin life in the top tier starting from August 30th.

Omino has been club-less since mid 2017 when he was ‘elevated’ to the position of technical director at Western Stima before he was later dismissed all together. Reports linked him with a return to Stima early this year but Salim Babu was instead offered the job.

The former Kisumu Posta, Western Stima and AgroChemical tactician has coached in the top flight for decades and AllStars will be hoping that his experience in the top level will come in handy as they look to cement their place among the KPL elites.

AllStars earned promotion to the Kenyan Premier League after finishing second in the National Super League with 80 points. A superior goal-difference saw them pip Nairobi Stima to the second and final automatic promotion slot.

The team will begin its life in the Kenyan Premier League with a match against Ulinzi Stars in Kisumu on August 31st. It will then be followed by a match against KCB, Nzoia Sugar, Western Stima and Posta Rangers in that order.
