“Nobody will take us serious” Comedian YY on depression

The fast rising Kenyan Comedian Oliver Otieno better known as YY has revealed that, comedians are number one prey for depression.

Taking to his instagram account, YY revealed that comedians are being judged based on the jokes they make.

“Comedians are Strong,Brilliant and The number 1 prey for Depression…..You know why? 1st we think so deep…Deeper than the outlook of situations…Comedy is like mining, we dig until we are able to exctract humour” he wrote.

“We Think humour even in our darkest moments…2ndly, Nobody will ever take us serious ….Yesterday I Wanted to prove this assertion so I Faked an engagement/proposal….Even If it was Legit,The Reaction of whether it’s true or not would still be the order of the day….I also learnt that there are people who aren’t moved by wind…am talking about the 10% who still believed the story even after Reading other Comments,that’s being objective and independent….Many people smile Courtesy Of Comedians Right?

He went on to lament how some people compares local comedians with the international.

“The question is How many Comedians smile because of You…Or is your work just to wake up in the morning and Compare us To ChrisRock and Dave Chapelle?(They are my favourites By the way)….And Do you know They do Comedy in their Mother Tongue?Do you??….Comedians Give but Rarely get back….I think we are meant to be givers” he stated.

The funny man had earlier revealed that he  sunk into depression after he lost his unborn daughter .

“I had a lot of expectations and I was so excited but the excitement was cut short in a manner I did not expect,” YY revealed.

He went on to explain how the hospital was reluctant to attend to his girlfriend.

“We went to the labour ward but the doctors recommended she has a Caesarian section. I went to book for one but they said the theatre was full,” YY said.

 

 

However, the couple later parted ways and the funny man moved on with his life since he is currently dating.

“Unfortunately, she is no longer in my life but I am dating again.”

On Father’s Day, YY celebrated himself as a dad on Instagram saying that his late daughter would be turning four years.

“Happy Father’s Day To Me…my late daughter would be 4 Years old Today but Everything happens for a Reason😢”he wrote.
