Mt. Kenya region has in many decades shaped the fate of the country’s politics. Apart from being enriched with with many votes, the region commands a lot of support politically.
The Deputy President William Ruto is loved and hated at almost the same levels in the region. He has struggled to establish his presence in the region which is now heeding to his influence.
However some of the veteran Uthamaki leaders are not at peace with that. They are referring to DP Ruto as an intruder.
Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has joined other leaders from Mt.Kenya region to bash Dr Ruto.
Kabando Wa Kabando who was recently honoured by a state appointment as the chairman of the Board of the Local Authorities Provident Fund by President Uhuru Kenyatta, has accused DP Ruto of spreading RailaPhobia in the region.
Kabando, who unsuccessfully vied as an independent candidate for Mukurweini MP in 2017, has boldly stated that DP Ruto is hiring naive and greedy leaders who are opposing President Kenyatta’s rule.
Mr Kabando has moreover stated that DP Ruto is a pretender as recently he stated his determination to ensure Uhuru’s legacy becomes smart yet he is opposed to the Handshake.
“You recruit greedy naive stooges to spread RailaPhobia in MtKenya to entrench politics of threats, fear, paranoia, exclusion, hate. Sycophants ravenously extracting your filthy coins. You fight handshake, BBI, UhuRao, WarOnGraft and still claim you’re loyal to BOSS? Saboteur!” Kabando retorted.

What Kabando has stated closely resonates with what Kikuyu Council of Elders said a head of 2022 elections. The Council of elders frankly said that their votes will not be bought.
“The Kikuyu vote will not be brokered for money by ‘tukunias’.
No one carries a vote for another so those ‘promising’ others the votes of the region, we know you; and you aren’t the first ‘tukunias’ in the history of the Kikuyu people,” Kikuyu elders said.
Recently Dr Ruto has changed his tune from hurling insulting words to Hon Raila Odinga to preach the message of Uhuru’s Big Four Agenda.
During the Akorino annual meeting he maintained a low profile stating how he is pleased to be Uhuru’s deputy.

Although DP Ruto and a number of his allies dismissed opposition calls for President Uhuru Kenyatta to endorse former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the presidency in 2022.
