The escalating United-Pogba transfer demand standoff

Last season’s strugglers Manchester United will have to take a hard stance with the French star, Paul Pogba after he went public in his demand to force his way out of the club.

The midfielder has taken a swap on United by declaring that he wants to leave the club for a second time in the name of he “wants a new challenge”.

Unfortunately, United are not simply prepared to let go off their star midfielder, who cost them a world record £89million in 2016 and are determined to resist letting him go by tagging him a high transfer fee.

Real Madrid and Pogba’s former club Juventus have expressed their desire to sign him and United are adamant they will only reluctantly consider selling him for a fee between £150million and £170million.

This could put him beyond the reach of both clubs with the Spanish giants having just paid £88million for Eden Hazard from Chelsea in a deal, which could ultimately be worth close to £150million.

Manchester United know this and their hardline stand is a clear message to Pogba that the French World Cup winner cannot dictate terms to them.

The two sides are on collision course and Pogba believes he can pressure United into selling him after recently using a promotional tour of Japan to publicise his desire to leave and turn up the heat on United.

Luckily, his controversial super agent, Mino Raiola has also won his appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport against his worldwide ban and is free to negotiate the departure of the star and other players he presents as an agent.

The 26-years-old Pogba, enjoyed his best campaign for United last season, scoring 16 goals and creating 10 assists, and wants to cash in on a big-money move away.

He returned to Old Trafford to win Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues and wants out because United are nowhere near lifting either of the titles after displaying a sluggard play especially in the second leg.

“For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody, like everywhere else,” he said.

“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

“I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

Pogba’s move has given boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a real headache and the Norwegian only wants players fully committed to United as he embarks on his major overhaul job.

United’s fans will want rid of Pogba and they have long been unhappy with him, feeling he has done little during his three years back at the club to justify his huge fee and wages.

United have begun planning for life without Pogba and have identified Monaco’s Youri Tielemans, who impressed on loan at Leicester during the second half of last season, and Tottenham ’s Christian Eriksen as possible replacements.
