Gor Mahia Gives Unusual Send-Off to Departing Assistant Coach ‘Zico’

Gor Mahia assistant coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno is perhaps one of the few leaders in the club who have been given a warm send-off after declaring his resignation from the club’s technical team.

Unlike other managers who have been bashed and sent with humiliating messages, Zico received his maximum respect after choosing to down his tools from his position at K’Ogalo.

The former title-winning skipper and long-serving tactician at Gor sent his resignation letter to the club’s chairman Dr. Ambrose Molo Rachier on Friday 7 June 2019.

Zico, however, thanked the club for the second opportunity that was given to serve the club and stated that he wants a new challenge. This is no doubt a good reason to resign.

Rachier accepted his resignation and wished him all the best in his future endavours.

“We have accepted Zico’s resignation and thank him for his dedicated service. We wish him well in his future endeavors”, Rachier said.

” It has been a pleasure working with Zico, and on behalf of the team, we would like to wish him the very best in all his future endeavors”, the President added.

Upon receiving his resignation, K’Ogalo fans did not show anything to bash or try to keep him in the club. Instead, they joined their chairman in wishing him all the best even as he pursues other opportunities elsewhere.

Zico rejoined Gor Mahia technical team in 2017 and has played a key role in the success of the Green Army. He has helped K’Ogalo lift the trophy three consecutive times.

He has also helped Gor in their continental assignments. All the best ‘Zico’!
