Kenya’s very own Makeup Goddess and business woman Joanna Kinuthia has opened up about her life after fans insistence.
The beautiful Youtuber posted a photo on Instagram asking fans to ask her anything which she would open up on, and netizens couldn’t be happier.
On her higher education accomplishment, she is not just beauty and no brains. She graduated from Strathmore University with a degree in Commerce, majoring in Marketing and a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Her knowledge of entrepreneurship has really brought her a long way as it equipped her with the necessary skills required for starting her own business and being her own boss. The beauty is now CEO and biggest shareholder of her cosmetics line Joanna K cosmetics that many Kenyan women swear by. Through her Youtube, she has worked her way to the list of Kenyan celebrities.
She opened up on the fact that she managed to come up with capital for her makeup brand through Youtube and major brand collaborations.
She confessed there are indeed so many frustrating things about the makeup business in Kenya but she chose to share one.
“We as Africans have this perception that international is better than local.” This has been every Kenyan entrepreneur’s nightmare, as they are tasked with double the work trying to convince the market of their legitimacy. We are our own worst enemies.
This is one concern that fellow cosmetic CEO Huddah Monroe also confessed about. The Socialite, who has been in the Kenyan makeup industry for a bit longer confessed that she gets more support of her brand outside than inside Kenya.
When asked, she noted that money hasn’t changed her personality. She believes it only makes you more of who you are.
“Work on yourself even when you don’t have money, be giving with the little you actually have like your time.”
She has 7 siblings, all from the same mother and father. A fact she confessed she used to be embarrassed about growing up.
“It’s not every day you meet someone with 7 siblings.” Later she realized the things that make you different are the best things about you.
The second born of the family of 8 turned 24 years old on 2nd January.
“It’s not the best birthday because it’s after the festive season and people are broke by then,” she confessed. She never used to celebrate it because it was always back to school season.
Saving is one of my biggest struggles. I’m good at making the money but I let myself down when it comes to budgeting and saving.
She completely refused to reveal her relationship life details, saying she’ll surprise us one day. When asked who the man behind the successful lady is, she only credits God. The wait continues.
She has been very vocal about being religious as well as a spiritual being so when asked what her thoughts are about tattoos and the Bible, the girl with tattoos and piercings only had this to say:
I love Jesus and read my Bible, but at the same time I have piercings and tattoos.
