President Uhuru Kenyatta joined other Heads of State and global leaders for the opening of the Women Deliver 2019 Conference; the world’s largest gathering on the rights, health and wellbeing of women and girls.
President Kenyatta who is attending the conference at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has poured enough praises to Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
President Uhuru Kenyatta praised them on how they successfully served in their previous positions impressing the normal mwananchi. Hon Anne Waiguru served a Devolution and Planning CS while Charity Ngilu served as Health CS in Uhuru’s first term in office.
President Waiguru Praised them on how they have transitioned to reach the positions of Governors.
President Uhuru Kenyatta acknowledged the need for society to create an enabling environment for women to exercise authority and enable them exploit their skills and talents in providing services to the communities they live in.
The President, who is representing the African continent at the conference said he will not relent in pushing for more women to be included in leadership positions & pledged to use his influence to push for the passage of the two-third gender law in the Kenyan parliament.
