Kenya shone at the annual Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2019 held in Mauritius on Saturday by scooping several prestigious awards.
Nairobi was crowned as Africa’s leading business and travels destination at the 26th World Travel Awards 2019.
Reacting to the award, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko exuded his hopes of the city becoming a hub for economic activities in Africa.
“It’s with great honour to announce that Nairobi City County has been crowned Africa’s leading business travel destination during the World @TravelAwards 2019 held last night in Mauritius. This is a clear indication that Nairobi City is becoming Africa’s economic power hub,” posted Sonko on his Twitter handle.

The cash strapped Kenya Airways was named Africa’s leading airline, business and economy class. It was also their sixth win in a row.

KICC was ranked Africa’s leading meeting and Conference Center. KICC was further selected to host World Travel Awards in 2020.

At the event, Diani Beach retained its win as Africa’s leading beach destination, its sixth win in a row.
