You will disagree with de Jong if you believed that Messi or Christiano Ronaldo are the best strikers in history. In our time, many will vote either of the two players when asked about their best strikers ever.
Why?
We have seen how the two players have dominated the world of football for more than a decade. They have been the driving force in their respective clubs.
To prove everything, they have won Ballon d’Or five times each and have won Europeans Golden Boot more than any other player.
But to the new FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, they cannot make it even to a midfield position. According to the Holland sensation, Johan Cruyff was the best striker in history.
European Footballer of the Century was considered a gifted playmaker and was the figurehead of Dutch football. Cruyff was the star of ”total football ” with which Ajax Amsterdam achieved its greatest successes and the Netherlands at the 1974 World Cup runner-up. He then played for FC Barcelona, in the US and again in the Netherlands.
De Jong and De Ligt recently announced that they drew their inspiration from Johan Cruyff.
And when asked about the goalkeeper, De Jong mentioned former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar, his best defender, he mentioned Ronald Koeman and his best ever midfielder is Andres Iniesta.
