Brutal murder suspect in constable Hellen Kwamboka killing arrested

Detectives from Buruburu today morning arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the brutal killing of Police Constable Hellen Kwamboka on the night of 23rd May 2019.

Mr. Erick Onyono Nyakundi was nabbed in his hideout at Swam Town after being trailed for almost a week.

The victim, who was attached to Parliament, was found lying on her bed in Umoja Estate, Nairobi on 24th May, with a deep cut inflicted on her head. It’s believed by DCI Detectives investigating the case that Mr. Erick Nyakundi committed the offence on the said night and then fled.

Kwamboka was found on her bed, with deep cuts on her forehead.

Police report also indicated that “blood stains were smeared all over the house”.

Hellen Kwamboka, who last reported to work on Thursday, May 23, left for home at around 7pm with police saying that it was the last time she was seen in public.

“She was expected at work on Friday, May 24, but she didn’t show up,” a report filed at Buruburu Police Station read.

According to police, Hellen Kwamboka’s colleagues began looking for her on Friday, when they failed to reach her on phone.

Police suspect that Kwamboka was first strangled and thereafter, fatally hacked.

“No murder weapon was recovered from the scene, which has already been processed by DCI officers,” read the police report.

“It is believed that her boyfriend, who visited her [Hellen Kwamboka] on May 23, had murdered her before escaping
