Being in prison I believe happens to be the worst moment in one’s life, torture, pain, guilt name it.
The ‘Hivo Ndo Kunaendaga’ hitmaker Majirani had come out to open up about sexual harassment during his incarceration.
The musician who was in prison for a year, says it was a traumatizing moment he would never wish on anyone.
In an exclusive interview, Majirani narrated his experience.
It is not a good experience. You are eaten by lice and given that they are considered ‘wanyama ya serikali’ you are bot allowed to kill them. if you were found killing them its considered a crime.
He goes on to talk about lessons he picked up during his stint in prison.
Prison taught me that you need to respect people. Right now even if you wrong me I just walk out because I would not want to go back there. Freedom is important than all the money.
Speaking about his horrible experience in jail, Majirani explained,
There was a time I was attacked by prisoners who wanted to sodomize me. I am thankful to God that it did not go through. That was the hardest moment of my life while in prison.
Speaking about how he ended up in prison in the first place, the rapper said,
I had been put in prison by my dad after dropping out of school. All he wanted was to put some sense into me. I had been given a bail of Ksh 200,000 and I could not afford it.
In conclusion, Majirani said,
That is why I stayed in remand for a whole year following through my case. I won the case and I was finally released.
