David Gitau, a fake lawyer based in Meru, was on Thursday arraigned and charged with masquerading as a legal practitioner.
The 35-year-old man was arrested two weeks ago at Maua Law Courts where he had been pretending to be a lawyer and even presenting cases.
Appearing before Maua Senior Resident Magistrate Oscar Wanyaga, Mr. Gitau was sentenced to a year and a half in jail without the option of a fine.
Gitau was reportedly under probation when his report was delivered in court and his plea for a fine denied.
Elsewhere, Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives on Wednesday evening arrested five suspects of robbery with violence in Mombasa.
According to DCI, the arrests followed an intelligence report received after a series of robberies and burglaries within Shelly Beach and Majengo Mpya.

During the sting operation, the sleuths recovered military attire and other assorted items belonging to various complainants.
The suspects were set to be arraigned in court later Thursday.
The five suspects are: Brian Oyare, George Okoth alias Musede, Robert Okoth, Mohamed Ali Hamisi and Rashid Juma.

Also recovered are assorted household goods belonging to various complainants.Suspects are in lawful custody awaiting arraignment in court tomorrow.
