Conte to Inter Milan: Why Manchester United Will Be the Greatest Beneficiaries

It is official! Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been named Inter Milan manager. It may be good news to everyone including Manchester United but may be sad for Inter Milan sensational striker Mauro Icardi.

This comes a day after the Italian club officially announced that they have parted ways with the coach Luciano Spalletti.

“FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that Luciano Spalletti is no longer head coach of the first team,” they said in a statement.

“The club wishes to thank Spalletti for his work and the results achieved together.”

Earlier on, it had been reported that Inter Milan’s deal with Antonio Conte was close to being agreed.

Conte has been away from football management since being sacked by Chelsea in July 2018.

And now, the speculations have been brought to an end after the club enters into an agreement with the Italian.

“A new chapter in my life is beginning, I’m really excited,” the former Juventus and Italy midfielder said.

“I have chosen Inter because of the club it is, because of how ambitious it is.

“I was struck by the club’s transparency and the desire to bring Inter back to where it belongs.”

Inter president Steven Zhang said he was “sure Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches out there”.

“I’m certain he’ll help us achieve our objective and fulfill our mission, one which has always remained the same: to make this club one of the best in the world again.”

Before his coming to Inter Milan, Conte had earlier on stated his plan to revamp the club and bring it to its former glory.

Firstly, he mentioned that he will axe the striker Mauro Icardi from the squad. And Manchester United are set to be the greatest beneficiaries since they have been looking for a top-notch striker after a frankly underwhelming season.

According to reports, Icardi could be axed due to his protracted contract dispute and the Italian club is reported to have offered the star to the market for £70million.

The 26-year-old striker was dropped from the squad last season because of his contract wrangle.

The player and his wife/agent Wanda have tried to negotiate a new deal with the Italian club but they are nowhere closer to finding a deal.

Amid the drama the Argentinian was stripped of his captaincy and the star then refused to play in the Europa League in response to the club’s actions.

No contract extension has been signed due to the tension meaning the striker’s contract ends in 2021 and United are keen to sign the player.

Icardi has scored an impressive 111 goals in 188 appearances for the club and has scored one goal for the Argentinian on his eight international duties.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now at a better place to sign the Argentinian striker after the new coach Antonio Conte joins the club.

Do you think Mauro Icardi can help Manchester United solve their striking problem?
