“I have two requests from my country back home. You might have noticed we have a little political turbulence at the moment and we are just wondering if you have a spare prime minister around you could give us,” Hastings joked before commencing his speech at the Safari Park Hotel.

Lord Michael Hastings from the United Kingdom stood and spoke about the political turmoil that is currently ongoing in united Kingdom and requested for a prime minister for his nation following the impending resignation of Theresa May over the Brexit deadlock.Image result for ruto raila

Dp William Ruto took the opportunity to refresh his rivalry with the opposition by taking the matter which came as a joke to humiliate him.

The DP said, “On your request for a prime minister…We have a retired one in Kenya and since the constitution of Kenya doesn’t have the post and he may not have it anytime soon, we will send you his CV”

As soon as he had made the remarks, the crowd burst into laughter.

DP Ruto camp and Raila’s camp have recently been engaged in a war of words that has threatened unity in the ruling Jubilee administration. Raila insists that the country must undergo a constitution change to look at our governance structures and see what needs to be rectified.Image result for ruto raila

Deputy President William Ruto, on the other hand, is opposed to the idea of expanding the Executive and instead proposes the creation of an office of the opposition leader to keep the government of the day in check.

Contradicting the matter further, President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the clearest signal that the country could hold a referendum to scrap the “winner-take-it-all” system of government. Raila and Uhuru came together during the march handshake which the DPs camp allege is a dishonest move to bar him from clinching the top position.

Hastings is the Global Head of Corporate Citizenship at KPMG International. He has also worked as BBC’s Head of Public Affairs and then the first Head of Corporate Responsibility. He is currently the second Chancellor of Regent’s University in London.
