Details have emerged on how a Kamiti Prison warder pumped some five bullets into his wife and went about partying in celebration at a local bar.

While the warden denied his actions in the Court, some 17 witnesses who lived nearby testified against him in a case that would land him a death sentence without parole.

The warder-Patrick Lesadala, was found to have murdered Diana Nthimba who was his girlfriend in 2002 at Zimmerman Estate Nairobi.

Lesadala is said to have woken up on the fateful day when he handed a Sh50 note to his then 12-years old son and went to his work station at Kamiti Maximum Prison.

At the time, a prisoner- Mr Landry Sironga, had escaped custody and the warders were on the lookout.

While Lesadala was not in the company of the warders looking for the prisoner, he somehow managed to convince the officer in the armoury division to furnish him with a pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition.

After he was handed the gun, Lesadala, according to Daily Nation, would go back to his house where he found his wife doing laundry outside.

According to neighbours testimony, he questioned his wife on where she had been the previous night and the wife said she was at her uncle’s.

The warder commanded the wife- Dianah Nthimba to call her uncle when a heated exchange ensued and the couple moved inside the house.

Lesadala’s son would hear three gunshots with his mother screaming. The boy said he heard two more gunshots before his father came out of the house.

Lesadala went to a local bar where he bragged to the bartender that he had killed a woman with his gun.

Police would later arrest him as he was having his drink at the joint.
