First class vs mid-table clash as Sofapaka and Kakamega Homeboyz face-off

Third-placed Sofapaka will be plying their last match of the season when they host middle-table placed Kakamega Homeboyz at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa a match that will not have major changes on the log for Sofapaka if they win.

A loss to them and a win for fourth positioned Sony Sugar will tough have some impacts as the two will record equal points in case Sony wins.

Kakamega Homeboyz who are logged at position seven with 52 points will be without a doubt looking for a win to bypass sixth-placed beer makers of Tusker who has 53 points.

It is a tight match and none of the sides will want to lose their last match of the season although the Batoto ba Mungu have had a strenuous and poor record in their recent matches.

They have only recorded only a single win in their most recent five matches that they have played which was against Western Stima, lost a match against Champions Gor Mahia and a streak of three draws in their most recent three matches.

The rivals as the season comes to a close have had two wins, two losses and sharing spoils in their recent matches which is not a good poor result compared to their last match day rival.

Sofapaka had earlier in the year opened a big gap but their poor record of play into the ending of the season saw them overtaken by the Port boys or Bandari who are now finishing strong in the season at position two.

Thankfully, Gor Mahia has already bagged the trophy, a third straight record time to become the only team to reach such a fete.

AFC Leopards and Ulinzi stars have won the Trophy once in a three consecutive trophy winning but now are two times behind the Champions Gor Mahia who have had a hard time of the season of lacking a sponsor.

But they are said to be in the advanced stages of securing the sponsorship of their former sponsor, Tuzo who could join them in the next season.
