Eldoret: Governor’s brother found murdered and body dumped in construction site

Police in Uasin Gishu county have launched investigations over a possible homicide case after a body of a man was discovered dumped at an ongoing construction site. Upon investigations, detectives probing the case were notified that the body was kin to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.

Detectives suspect that the man alleged to be an employee at the Kenya Pipeline Eldoret depot, might have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in Chepkanga village some 10 kilometres from Eldoret town.

By the time of going to press, security officials were trying to unravel the mystery of the man’s death.

Moiben deputy county commissioner Lilian Langat confirmed the incident adding that police have launched investigations and several people interrogated and statements recorded.

The man is said to have been a frequent customer at the hotel and that he often visits during weekends.
“The man was seen in a neighbouring joint with some friends last weekend but we do not know how his body ended up here,” a source said.Image result for Moiben deputy county commissioner Lilian Langat

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat has urged the police to leave no stone unturned on the matter and all culprits found guilty brought to book. “How sure are we about the safety of our people?” he posed, taking security agencies to task over their lax that has led to frequent burglaries.” he posed.

Lydia Koech, a businesswoman, who said she knew the man, described him as a friendly and polite person who related well with everyone.
“I last saw him last month. He is an outgoing person and normally buys meat from my butcher. We are shocked because we have never had such an incident in the past. Chepkanga has good security,” she said.

Police are assessing CCTV footage. The hotel is located a few metres from Chepkanga AP police post.

Relatives visited the scene and police later collected the body and took it to Eldoret Hospital mortuary.
