Singing Tanga tanga chorus in the morning, afternoon and evening is proving fowl for former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa who has hence declared his intention of ditching the Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
According to Echesa, if his dalliance is what would cause him all the troubles he’s currently witnessing, then he will have to call it a quit.
He said “If supporting you to be re-elected for the second time is the mistake that I did, I want you Mr President to find a place in your heart and forgive me. If supporting William Ruto could be the cause, I better be told. Supporting Ruto not a matter of death but I need to find my peace’’.
Echesa’s move comes just days after he was arrested and spent a night in police cell in connection with the Matungu killings.
He was locked up alongside Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala who got numerous support from all over the County while Echesa got none.
He was picked up by detectives after leaving a rally addressed by Ruto in Kakamega and held at Nandi Hills Police Station.
Echesa is also in a frantic mission to make a truce with opposition Chief Raila Odinga, his erstwhile political mentor turned foe.
Insiders intimated that Echesa who was an ODM youth leader before DP Ruto poached him owing to his mobilizing skills and thuggery (key prerequisites in Kenyan politics) has been sending emissaries to Raila ostensibly after it dawned on him that strong association with Ruto was creating a big negative impact on his political star.
Those privy to his operations said the former CS is worried of the constant tribulations he has been facing following his close political relationship with the DP.
