DCI storm Kiambu MCA case after finding he is linked with cartels

The office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stopped a court order for Kiambu MCA Julius Macharia, saying that they have found evidence linking him to cartels.

The Witeithie Ward Rep has been on the spot after being found with images of DP William Ruto in full military regalia, the flag of Kenya and the Coat of Arms.

After being charged with the crime of creating the images of national symbol, the court released him on Sh20,000 bail.

Just hours later, the DCI interfered with the ruling.

One of the prosecutors filed a miscellaneous application by DCI seeking to have the MCA and his driver detained for five more days over the improper use of emblems.

The prosecutor told the court that detectives needed time to investigate the source of the emblem whose use caught the attention of many Kenyans.

He argued that the DCI suspected there was an illegal cartel dealing in the emblems and needed time to look into the matter.

The court therefore granted the application saying there are legitimate fears as expressed in the application.

The case is set to be mentioned on June 4.
