“This is Why I Killed your Daughter”- Pastor Admits

A pastor admitted to killing a 17-year-old girl after defiling her in Kitale.

The pastor identified as Charles Nyachwara has been on the run since he committed the act in 2011 and police have been on the lookout for him without success.

However, a close relative of the pastor Mr Zacharia Ogechi who placed his title deed as a surety took it upon himself to look for Nyachwara.

At the time of the killing, Nyachwara was operating a church in Kitale where 17-year-old Scholastica Mmbihi was a congregant.

Moments after killing the minor, the pastor was charged with murder but was later to be released on a cash bail.

While on bail, the man of God is said to have fled Kitale and hid for some time in Mombasa before moving to Tanzania.

All this while, his relative Mr Ogechi was actively pursuing him as his land used as surety was on the verge of being claimed.

Speaking to the Standard, Ogechi said he travelled the East African countries trying to trace his kin to face justice back at home.

“I visited several areas such as Mwanza, Panda and Silale looking for him but it proved to be a waste of energy as he had moved to Uganda,” he narrated.

Nychwara had been spotted in Uganda and word had it that he was planning to get married to a Ugandan lady.

Ogechi would quickly process this information to secure the arrest of Nyachwara.

As fate would have it, Nyachwara was arrested immediately after the wedding procession hit the church grounds. He would be handcuffed right at the altar and frogmarched to a waiting police car.

Appearing before Justice Chemitei in a Kitale court, Nyachwara revealed that he killed Scholastica because he had a reputation to protect as a man of God.

Autopsy reports indicated that Scholastica was pregnant with triplets when the pastor killed her.

Also, Nyachwara would also reveal to the courts that by Scholastica’s father refusing to drop defilement charges against him, he was left with so much pain and resorted to killing the minor.

He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder, which the judge described as “cruel.”

“I have heard the litigation by both the prosecution and defence. What is evident is the fact that the minor suffered cruel death in your hands,” read Justice Chemitei
