‘Presidency is Not For Few Big Tribes !’ Muthama Moves to Court to Stop Ruto’s 2022 Bid

Deputy President Wiliam Ruto’s 2022 Presidential ambition may hit the tunnel if the vocal Wiper Leader Johnstone Muthama plan to have kicked out of 2022 elections bears fruits.

The former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has claimed that Ruto must retire alongside President Uhuru Kenyata in 2022.

Muthama has says that he has sought enough legal consultation as he moves to the constitutional court to compel DP Ruto to hang up his political boots upon expiry of their second term in office.

Speaking during a burial in Kangundo constituency, Machakos County on Friday, Muthama said that the presidency is not a preserve of few big tribes.

He said that DP Ruto’s candidature will deny other tribes and communities in Kenya from ascending to the presidency.

According to Muthama, the current constitution arrangement does not give affair political power sharing.

“I have met my lawyers and instructed them to move to the constitutional court to seek a declaration that once a sitting president completes his second term in office, his deputy should also retire automatically,” he said .

Muthama is not the first politician to threaten to block DP Ruto’s presidential ambition in court. In December last year, former Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe also threatened to move to the Supreme Court to stop DP Ruto’s 2022 ambition.

Murathe claimed that DP Ruto does not qualify to be president in 2022 and should equally retire alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
