The recent Matungu Sub County killings in Kakamega County saw Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i move to the region to intervene, which later caused a series political leaders’ arrests from the region.
But his intervention is needed more in Kerio valley. Leaders in counties that border Kerio Valley now want the Interior cabinet secretary to relocate to the troubled valley.
Deadly bandit attacks which have been going on have left at least 20 people dead.
Education has also been paralyzed in the region as 30 schools have closed down following the attacks that have been going on for weeks now.

This is not the first case to be witnessed in Kerio Valley. The region has been experiencing a series of banditry attacks over the recent past.
Early last month, two children were killed by suspected rustlers from the neighboring Baringo County who also made away with livestock, raising tension in the valley.
The attacks happened at the backdrop of cursing rituals that were being conducted by elders from Marakwet, Baringo and Pokot to punish cattle rustlers unleashing terror in the region.
The attacks were also witnessed last year, as well as in the year 2017.
