The arrest of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu continues to draw mixed reactions among Kenyans.

A good number of Kenyans have lauded Anti-Graft Agency EACC for pouncing on Waititu while some see the whole thing as an exercise in futility.

Kenyans have argued that several house raids have been done before but so far none of the suspects has been thrown behind bars. They have pointed out the case of Governor Okoth Obado with the latest case being that of Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal.

Among Kenyans dissatisfied with EACC’s manner of doing things is self declared NRM General Miguna Miguna.

Miguna has faulted EACC for arresting Waititu before collecting sufficient evidence.

“This is my considered opinion regarding EACC’s raid of Ferdinand Waititu’s homes and similar raids conducted by them and the DCI purportedly in “search of evidence.” Arrests ought to occur AFTER not BEFORE evidence has been collected, reviewed and found credible,” Said Miguna.

While admitting that Waititu is indeed corrupt, Miguna was quick to point out that other senior government officials and politicians are also corrupt but law enforcement agencies have lately chose to focus on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s perceived Political enemies.

Waititu has been actively engaged in Politics and has openly been druming support for DP William Ruto. This has been seen by many as a slap on President Kenyatta’s face given that he called on Leaders from the. Mt. Kenya region to stop politicking and focus on Development.

Could this be the reason why guns have suddenly been turned on him?

“We know that Ferdinand Waititu is corrupt. So are all the cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, governors and many other politicians and fake businessmen and businesswomen. Unfortunately, law enforcement agencies are being used to target only Uhuru’s perceived opponents,” Said Miguna.

The former Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant also had some advice to the EACC on how to carryout it’s operations.

He has called on them to conduct investigations secretly and collect credicle and watertight evidence.

“Investigations ought to be done secretly, all credible evidence collected considered and watertight cases made out and charges laid against criminals so that they can be convicted and sentenced to long jail terms. The current raids are diversionary PR stunts,” Said Miguna.

Waititu was on Thursday Morning arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption detectives after more than six hours of interrogation following a dawn raid by the detectives in his Runda and Garden Estate homes in Nairobi.

The detectives were searching for vital documents as the EACC steps up their graft probe over audit queries in Kiambu county.
