Malala: Matiangi should step aside to allow for investigations into gold scandal

Kakamega County Senator Cleophas Malala has said that Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi should step aside to allow for investigations into the fake gold scandal.

Speaking on Wednesday morning during Bunge la Maisha show aired on Raidio Maisha, Malala argued that Dr Matiang’i  is a person of interest and cannot lead the investigations.

The interior CS is among the top leaders that have been implicated in the scandal.

In an audio clip that leaked last week, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s voice is heard in a conversation between him and Ali Zandi, an alleged Dubai contact.

In the conversation, Wetangula alleges to have spoken to Dr Matiang’i to release a gold consignment that had been allegedly seized at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

He also notes having spoken to the head of state over the same.

Matiangi’s link in the scandal is the one making Malala feel that he should step aside and allow thorough investigations to go on.
