Malala dismisses Sh 150,000 MPESA transaction claims in Matungu killings case

Kakamega County Senator Cleophas Malala has dismissed the claims that he transacted Ksh 150,000 via MPESA to suspected gang behind Matungu Sub County killings.

Speaking on Raidio Maisha’s Bunge la Maisha morning show, Malala said he has not sent anyone any money through MPESA.

He dismissed the rumors going around, saying that they are not true.

The first term senator said that he did not even have that kind of money.

“I have not sent anyone any money through MPESA, the rumors going around that I transacted 150,000/= are not true. I do not even have that kind of money,” he said.

Malala was arrested on Friday in Kisumu alongside former Sports Cabinet secretary Rashid Mohamed Echesa, Matungu MP Justus Murunga and Mayoni ward MCA Libinus Oduory.

They were however unconditionally released on Sunday evening following an order from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Security coordinator Ngetich has hence confirmed the arrest of 15 key suspects behind the Matungu killings.
