Manchester United have submitted an offer to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Indeed, the Red Devils have been in talks with their number one David De Gea over a new contract, but as of yet, no agreement has been reached.

David De Gea has just one year left on his contract and would be free to negotiate with teams in Europe from January.

The Spanish star, who has just completed his eighth season at Old Trafford, is demanding a significant increase on his current contract that would see him earn parity with Alexis Sanchez, who earns a basic salary of £400,000 a week which is topped up by various bonuses.

But Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is not willing to match David De Gea’s terms.

According to the Daily Record, the Spain international is ‘unimpressed’ with Ed Woodward’s refusal to meet his demands, while the Red Devils are now actively seeking replacements.

Manchester United have submitted a bid for Andre Onana but Ajax, who value the Cameroonian at €40 million (£35m), have rejected the offer.

Manchester United are also unwilling to meet Ajax’s asking price for the Cameroon international and are considering Barcelona ace Jasper Cillessen as an alternative signing.

Jasper Cillessen, who joined Barcelona from the Eredivisie giants, is valued more than €25m (£22m) by the La Liga champions but would be a cheaper alternative to Ajax star for Manchester United.

David de Gea is looking to leave the theatre of Dreams despite the English giants being desperate to retain his services.
