Sleuths drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Friday pounced on two legislators believed to have clues or close links with perpetrators of Kakamega killer gangs.

The first legislator Mr Libinus Oduor was arrested shortly past noon after detectives investigating the incidents found links connecting him with the recent murders.

The gangs have since killed a total of 14 residents of Matungu in a month.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i flew into the constituency Thursday in the company of Police Inspector General, Mr Hillary Mutyambai.

At the event which he used to brief the security chiefs on what to do, Matiang’i urged the criminals to surrender to police or face the wrath of the law.

Matiang’i also ‘poured’ over 100 GSU police officers in the area to reign the killings.

But Friday afternoon, police nabbed Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala in a Kisumu hotel.

Malala was arrested in Kisumu’s Sovereign hotel after he left his phone to a hotel worker.

“They did not state their reason for arresting him, and at this time we have no information on what could have led to his arrest,” the hotel representative stated.

reports indicate that there could be a close link of the arrest and the ongoing investigations on Matungu killings.
