Kisumu Artiste Confesses to Murder

A Kisumu-based artiste has confessed to murdering a Murang’a GK Prison warder in an incident that sent shockwaves throughout the country.

The warder who was known to be a jolly person who often partied and enjoyed life was found dead in her rental house Wednesday after she was brutally murdered.

A CCTV footage obtained from the rented house revealed a tattooed man leaving her house at 3 Am after clocking in at 9 pm.

The man would later be traced to a Kericho roadblock where police had cast their dragnet.

Thursday at 5 pm, the ‘artiste’ who has since been identified as Joseph Ochieng was nabbed by police who impounded all the occupants of the private vehicle he was in.

The owner of the vehicle, Ms Mary Amollo Olisa, said that she did not know that Ochieng was a murderer on the run.

Ochieng pleaded guilty of stabbing dead Ms Pauline Ngoi Wangari after strangling her. Detectives drawn from the DCI have said that Ochieng admitted to committing the crime, even saying that he was under “the influence of bhang.”

The court allowed Ochieng to be detained for 14 more days awaiting a conclusion of investigations surrounding the murder.
