Details have emerged on how a KDF soldier lost his life in a grisly road accident along the Nanyuki-Nairobi road.
Three other occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries during the accident.
Mwea West OCPD Owour Wenda said the soldier died on the spot while the others – who sustained hand fractures — were taken to the nearby Sagana Hospital before later being transferred to a Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment.
According to officer Wenda, the soldiers were heading to Nairobi from Nanyuki when the Land Rover vehicle they were travelling in developed a tyre burst and rolled several times.
The vehicle was extensively damaged and has since been towed to the local police station.
The area police boss further added that the body of the deceased is currently being preserved at a local mortuary and will be handed over to his family for a proper burial.
