New government spokesperson Rt. Oguna renews state friendship with media

Retired Colonel Cyrus Oguna the new government spokes person who has made his first speech in the new shoes today has elaborated on the state’s relationship with the Kenyan media houses and the flow of information.

Oguna has stated that what the government knows the media will know too. He as well disclosed that he will be having a press conference every Thursday on situations pertaining to government while promising to reveal the information to the public.

 

While acknowledging that he is trying to renew friendship with the media, after interacting with them during his stint as Kenya Defence Force Spokesman; Retired Colonel Oguna asked journalists to stick to accuracy.

He was appointed to the position by the Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru on May 7, 2019, to take over from Mr Eric Eric Kiraithe.

Oguna has said the country has no choice but to embrace the growing digital economy.

He spoke vastly about Kenya’s growth in the digital sector, pointing to a trip in which President Uhuru Kenyatta travelled to Rwanda to launch a digital project.

He added that the Big Four Agenda will heavily rely on the digital economy.

Oguna is more known for his role In-charge of Kenya Defence Forces Public Affairs Office and Spokesman for KDF at the onset of Operation Linda Nchi, a position he held for three years, between 2011 – 2013.
