The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.President Uhuru must have put this line to use and he has managed to subdue the rabid Tanga Tanga MPs who have been jumping like a kangaroo, from one part of the country, to the next, campaigning for 2022.
After months of trying to tear down the head of state and make his Big 4 agenda as well as legacy a pipe dream, DP Ruto has been successfully cut to size by laying the hammer on MPs supporting his bid.The weekly political activities, either dubbed as fundraisers,church services or unveiling unlawful, non existing projects have slowed down.
How has the president managed to contain the over ambitious and crafty Ruto so effortlessly? The first step President Uhuru Kenyatta took was to avoid public confrontations with DP Ruto. This move made sure he was viewed in public as the bigger man, while Ruto came out as an errant and selfish leader who cared about nothing but his presidential ambitions and gaining as much MPs on his side as possible.
Whereas he avoid public confrontations with Tanga Tanga, Uhuru was strategically winning allies from the DP’s backyard.It is a public knowledge Ruto was winning support of elected leaders from Uhuru’s backyard, mainly as a result of his deep pockets.He had bought almost half of MPs from Mt Kenya. Uhuru on the other hand exploited the differences between Ruto and a number of Rift Valley MPs and it has incredibly paid off.
Leaders such as Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar, Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei, Aibkoi MP William Chepkut and Kesses MP Swarrup Mishra have given Ruto a wide berth and are inclined towards President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Also in the list are Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago,Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny along with Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and Moiben MP Sila Tiren.Kutuny says DPs arrogance and people around him are responsible for the Rift Valley rebellion.
“I am in Jubilee party but what is happening cannot be ignored. It tells you the disaffection and frustration in wananchi. They are in a dilemma because there is no one articulating their issues. They are actually trying to find political direction for someone to represent their views.”
CCM Party leader Isaac Rutto has successfully managed to rope in billionaire Bundotich Kiprop Buzeki to CCM and is the party’s secretary general.This is another blow to DP Ruto considering the financial war chest Buzeki has.
Uhuru is the figure in the background pulling the strings and so far, he has been very effective.
