CS Matiang’i finally tours Matungu in the wake of recent killings

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i will this morning tour Matungu Sub County, Kakamega County in the wake of the recent killings by a criminal gang which left 13 people dead in the past one month.

He is expected at the Western Regional Commissioner’s office at 9 am for a brief meeting with security chiefs before proceeding to Matungu Sub-County.

Residents have been living in fear following the killings that have now lasted for over a month.

The killer gang suspected to be from the 42 brothers group have been moving door to door at nights.

The suspects have been raiding homes at night and viciously attacking victims by slashing them before fleeing on motorbikes.

A security operation is ongoing in Matungu which borders Siaya, Busia and Bungoma counties. A key suspect in the killings is reported to have gone into hiding.

Detectives are busy piecing together information on the bizarre killings as they try to unravel the motive behind the attacks suspected to have been instigated by politicians.
