The Chairperson of the Council of Governor’s Wycliffe Oparanya has sucked the Treasury into the bizarre county budget lines.
Kiambu County was the whistle blower of the bizarre budget line which Governor Ferdinand Waititu was blasted for presenting a state house budget line. The other counties were also highlighted for having bizarre budgets.
But the Auditor General Edward Ouko said the audit queries flagged by the Senate committee were an issue of “bad reporting”.
“It is just an issue of bad reporting or the information was slotted into a template which was not customized for that particular reporting of the county budget, so you end up with some budget heads from a template of the national government budget. It is not an issue of whether counties spent money on those items,no,”he Said.
Governor Oparanya: I expect that if there are any issues, it is the Auditor General who will raise the issues.
To me, I think the problem is at Treasury. Investigations should not just stop with the Auditor General and the Controller of Budget#NewsNight@TrevorOmbija pic.twitter.com/zPwCFtFs7T

But Wycliffe Oparanya thinks the Treasury should also be investigated and answer to questions on counties bizarre spendings.
