Anyang Nyong’o lashes at locals for heckling Raila, says move was politically motivated

Kisumu County governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o has lashed out at Kisumu locals for embarrassing ODM leader Raila Odinga on Monday.

The AU envoy was heckled by rowdy Muhoroni residents when he was in the compary of Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, Transport CS James Macharia among other ODM leaders.

He had gone to Muhoroni on a tour visit of the proposed Economic zone site.

Governor Nyong’o said the the rowdy were youths were deployed by a certain political group opposed to Raila and development.

In a tough statement to media houses on Wednesday, May 15, Nyong’o lashed at the locals for rejecting development projects saying their actions were politically motivated.

“It is regrettable that a small band of engineered naysayers who have deliberately decided to resist development in the county as a whole purely for political mileage decided to embarrass our guests,” said Nyong’o.

“We shall not be deterred from continuing with changing Kisumu’s economy for the better to please a few visionless people,” he added.

He apologized to Raila on their behalf.
