Sebastian Migne has named the Harambee Stars preliminary squad that will represent the Nation in the African Cup of Nations tournament that kicks off on June the 21st in Cairo Egypt. Jesse Were missed out on a place alongside AFC Leopard’s defender David Cheche Ochieng while Allan Wanga defied the odds to make the cut at 33 years of age alongside Micheal Olunga.

Patrick Matasi
The Former Posta Rangers shot-stopper single-handedly won Kenya’s its latest CECAFA senior challenge title with World class penalty shot-stopping in the final against Zanzibar. Currently plying his trade with Ethiopian outfit St.Georges FC, Matasi will likely be the starting goalkeeper in Egypt.
He has a great command of his area and knows how to gentle pressure though he is suspect to lapses in concentration every once in a while. Having sat down with him personally a couple of times to discuss his career, I can report that Matasi’s temperament and commitment to the course of the highest degree. He hungry to do well for his nation which is exactly what we need between the sticks.
Allan Wanga
The Kakamega Homeboyz striker is currently leading the Golden Boot race in the Kenyan Premier League despite being at the wrong side of 30! He is a class act both on and off the pitch and will is experienced enough to earn the respect of the entire dressing room. Allan Wanga has won the league title with Tusker Fc and has featured for AFC Leopards and starred.
To cap it all off, Wanga doubled up as player and coach after Kakamega Homeboyz fired Paul Nkata earlier on in the season. Should Sebastian Mignedecide he will not preside over matches in Cairo, there’s a ready-made replacement in the squad!
Victor Wanyama
Captain, Leader, and legend will be fit to lead Harambee Stars in the nation’s first continental assignment since 2004, 15 years ago! Alongside Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez, Wanyama will be one of the few stars in Cairo who plays for a Premier League club, a feat assured to earn him lots of admirers.
Besides that, however, he will be the team’s driving force in midfield and the guy to look for when things go wrong on the pitch. Wanyama is the most talented player in the squad and should he be fit and firing, Kenya will cause a few upsets in Cairo.
