Governor Josphat Nanok of Turkana County maybe hiding under the umbrella of The Deputy President William Ruto to escape the multi-billion dam scandal which is emanating from his county.
A Chinese firm awarded a Sh19 billion tender to construct Lowaat Dam in Turkana County had been blacklisted by six multilateral development banks (MDBs) at the time the National Irrigation Board (NIB) invited bids for the project.
The unusual award of the tender, which was characterized by legal drama between 2016 and 2018, is set to further lift the lid on the dirty world of big projects, which often leave the taxpayer poorer.
The scandal has an imprint of a number of top political leaders in government as well as from the Rift Valley. Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok is suspected to be on the list, and it is out of the impending heat coming his way that he has rush to endorse DP William Ruto for presidency in 2022.
Governor Nanok, who is also the former Council of Governor (CoG) chair endorsed Ruto at a public function in Lokichar, Turkana county attended by the DP himself. He told residents that he will throw his weight behind Ruto in 2022 immediately after President Uhuru’s term ends in 2022.
But will he be named in the list of the wanted persons in the Lowaat Dam Scandal?
