Margaret Kenyatta officiates Nurses Global network Conference

 

The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has officially opened the 5th International Global Network of Public Health Nurses Conference being held in Nairobi for the first time under the theme ‘Contribution of Public Health Nursing to SDG 3.

Health CS Sicily Kariuki also attended the Tuesday morning conference which creates a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences and innovations for health promotion.

CS Kariuki stated, “Public health nursing has a great role in primary health care. Risk factors for NCDs well know and can be mitigated through primary health care interventions: 80% of heart disease cases and type 2 Diabetes and 40% cases can be averted through these interventions.”

Speaking at an event that preceded the conference, Prof. Miriam Were said “Health is not created in hospitals but in homes and in the community. Medics must go beyond health facilities to influence good health practices in the community and homes.”
