When naming some of the bad governors in Kenya, then Obado will take position one, in fact he will be unopposed in this sector.
The Migori county boss has been in the news for all the bad reasons in the recent past; starting with the high profile murder of his pregnant girlfriend Sharon Otieno, a case that is still ongoing at the High Court.
Obado was also arrested in December last year and charged with illegal possession of firearms. He also has another case in court in which he is accused of defrauding the county government of Migori of more than 2 billion shillings.
But still the county boss said that he is not happy with being used as a very bad example.
“Over the weekend you went for some public function you gave me as some very bad example. When you were talking about counties and accountability and then singling out Obado and Migori county I don’t think that was fair to me. It gave me a lot of heavy Heart.” Obado told Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang on Monday.
Kajwang is the chair of the Senate Public Accounts Committee, which was gruelling Obado on Monday.
The governor also accused Kajwang of damaging the image of Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu by accusing him of things he had not done.
Waititu was accused of spending the Kiambu budget on things not related to the county like South Sudan Peace talks and Free Primary Education. And Obado says such a thing cannot happen.
“All of us know the processes that must be undertaken for funds to be released. It is very unfair to roast a governor on things that you know cannot happen. I don’t know what you gain from that.”
