Youth Group Buys Litter Bins To Salvage Garbage Menace

A self help group in Nairobi’s Kariobangi South has launched an initiative that will help curb drainage blockages and littering in the area.

The Five Plus Selfhelp Group has bought around eight litter bins and put them in different parts of Kariobangi South.

Speaking to a local radio, the group’s Chairman Charles Ashuma says the move will go a long way in curbing floods that have happened as a result of drainage blockages due to littering.

Ashuma says most residents of Kariobangi South have been exposed to viral diseases like cholera after flood waters have entered their houses.

Charles says that apart from garbage and litter bins the group has plans to transform the area by sensitizing the youth on the importance of keeping the environment clean and shunning drugs.
