Raila Blasted After Flopped Deal to Repair Kisumu Railway Line

Hopes for Kisumu residents of having the Kisumu Nakuru Railway Line revived are now dimmed after government abandoned plans to connect the old Nakuru-Kisumu railway line to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) terminus at Naivasha.

Now , all the anger and blames has been directed to one Opposition leader Raila Odinga . Some Kenyans who expressed their dissapontment on social media believe that Raila is being played or even taking part in seeing their downfall.

Instead, the government has opted to revamp the Naivasha-Malaba line at a cost of Ksh15 billion. Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said the Kisumu line was badly damaged, and reviving it would be equal to building a new line.

The government had promised to rebuild the Kisumu line and connect it to the SGR line at Naivasha, in a bid to achieve the economic viability intended for the SGR.
