Sofapaka mounts pressure on Gor Mahia after edging out Western Stima

Second-placed Sofapaka edged out the power men of Western Stima to mount more pressure on league leaders Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League midweek match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos town.

The hosts were on target on through their striker Aswani after a cross was well served by Avire, a winger in the early minutes of the match.

The second goal for the ‘Batoto ba Mungu came through the same player that supplied the first goal Avire through a header which went past the goalkeeper making it 2-0 before the teams broke for the break.

The win sends the Baraza boys four points shy of the leaders Gor Mahia who play Chemilil Sugar in Moi Stadium Kisumu and 7 points clear from third-placed Bandari.

Western Stima will remain at position 13 just a point shy of Nzoia and two points ahead of Chemilil and making it a second consecutive loss for the power men.
