It is a very good time to be a Ugandan at the moment, as each day brings closer the end of Museveni’s erroneous era.

Things are not going to be usual in the 2021 elections. Museveni must either relinquish power now or wait to be embarrassed on the ballot.

Firebrand Kyadodo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi has just managed to convince veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye, he of the People Government that the opposition is stronger together.

The two opposition forces; The People Government and People Power have now agreed that they will work together ahead of what looks to be an interesting time in Uganda’s history.

Addressing journalists at a joint press conference, Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze who is the spokesperson of Dr Kizza Besigye’s People Government said after a series of protracted meetings, they agreed to end the bickering and start working together.

“We know Museveni is too powerful and the only way to defeat him is by being organized and uniting not that we are weak but to be on the same line,”Nambooze said.

“We agreed that despite belonging to different formations, we must work together as partners on the same mission.”

Joel Ssenyonyi, the Bobi Wine and People Power spokesperson, said they had agreed to end the recent hostilities and attacks towards each other’s camp.

“We agreed and commit ourselves not to engage in conduct which creates disharmony and undue collision amongst the forces of change and to always act in a manner that reflects togetherness and comradeship,”Ssenyonyi said.

In the past, both Bobi Wine and Besigye have indirectly attacked each other.

On Wednesday, both camps agreed that the unnecessary attacks towards each other must end.

“We have realised it makes no sense to point guns at ourselves because it plays into Museveni’s advantage,”Ssenyonyi said.

The group said they will now work towards fighting against human rights violations meted towards them by police and other security agencies.

Asked to comment about who will be leading the new movement, Nambooze said there will be no leader but all will be equal.

“Both Bobi Wine and Besigye are principals and are equal to each other. No one is subordinate to each other,” Nambooze said.

The world is now waiting to see how Museveni will respond to this.
