XOXO: Series we all watched as Kenyan Teenage Girls

As a Kenyan Teenager from high school, the most important part of the holidays was the series you watched and the music you heard. One could not imagine being left behind on either.

When we got home we’d draw all the curtains, get under a duvet and spend the whole day watching either one of the following series. Then wait an hour before our parents came back home in order to clean the house. Like it or not, if you are a Kenyan female, you probably watched either one of these shows;

1. Gossip girl

“You know you love me xoxo gossip girl”

Who did not watch the mother of all teenage series? The love triangles and beef that took place on the upper east side made the majority of us want to be their friends, dress like them and go to parties just like them, have very chilled parents just like they did!

2. Pretty Little Liars.

This show was a definite guilty pleasure for a many of us, and the theme song was really catchy.

“Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you’ll save
Better lock it, in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you
Won’t tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret
If one of them is dead”‘

PLL
3. The Originals

It was the spin-off of Vampire Diaries and it did not disappoint! With the sexy Niklaus (Joseph Morgan) taking his charm from Mystic Falls to New Orleans, we totally had to watch this!

4. Vampire Diaries

The love triangle between Damon, Stefan and Elena was something out of a fairytale. We all fantasized about being involved in a Salvatore sandwich in one way or the other.

5. Glee

This was a one of a kind musical show. They really made us want to be part of either drama or music club.
