Three armed gang members sentenced to death in Kirinyaga

Three members of an armed gang that has been robbing and carjacking people in Kirinyaga County were Tuesday sentenced to death.

The accused were found guilty by Kerugoya senior principal magistrate Erick Wambu

The accused Joseph Njoroge, Lillian Njeri and Mikeson Mutinda were charged with robbing taxi driver Ibrahim Munyi Mbugi 3,300 shillings on 5th October 2016 at Kabendoso area of Kerugoya Township

They were further accused of using violence on him.

They also faced a second charge of attempting to rob the victim his motor vehicle; a Toyota fielder worth 900,000 shillings.

The three were identified as leaders of a vicious gang that has been terrorizing taxi drivers in Kirinyaga County robbing and maiming them in process.
