Grief over Murang’a woman who was left by husband and killed 5-month old child

Police are searching for a woman suspected of hacking her baby to death and dumping the body outside her matrimonial home. The 25-year-old woman is suspected have killed her five-month-old daughter after she fell out with her husband. The man’s sister in law, Susan Thuku , said she woke up at 5am on Monday morning to find the body of the infant outside their house.

“One of the children who was going to the toilet found a sack at the doorstep and called me. We found the baby’s body cut into pieces and stuffed inside the sack,” Ms Thuku.

According to Thuku, the suspect had left the baby at the doorstep on several occasions in the last few weeks. “She would leave the baby on our doorsteps at night and we’d find the infant abandoned and cold in the morning,” she said.

Another relative, who is also a neighbour to the couple,  Daniel Gachomo, said the couple have been in a relationship for two years. He said that in late March this year, the suspect’s husband requested to organise a formal visit to her rural home in Kiriaini, Murang’a County but she refused. The husband then demanded for a separation.

“She sent a chilling message to her husband saying that if she couldn’t live in the house, no one could,” said Thuku.
