Police from This Station Used Rape Exhibit as Curtains

In April, a photo of a policeman holding weapons used to commit the murder of a medical student was seen, igniting a heated debate on how to handle exhibit.

The incident opened wounds on a fresh case where a woman who had presented a rape case of her daughter, brought in stained bedsheets as evidence of the crime,

The woman, whose daughter was a minor, was received by police but more shocking was that months later, police were using the stained bedsheets as a curtain!

The curtains which were collected from the suspected rapist’s home had become a regular household item at the Soweto Police Station where the cops would draw or fold it depending on the prevailing temperatures.

Last week, on the 30th of April, suspected Ivy Wangechi’s killer-Naftali Kinuthia pleaded not guilty before an Eldoret Magistrate Douglas Moseti.

Whether the murder weapons recovered at the crime scene could be used as evidence to implicate him is for the murder remains unclear.

However, a number of cases remain summarily terminated after the cases were thrown out due to lack of sufficient evidence.
