Sofapaka manager John Baraza was furious with the referee after his side blew a two-goal lead draw 2-2 with Tusker in a Kenya Premier League match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

With Gor Mahia having dropped points earlier on in the day, Sofapaka knew that a win would revive their slim title hopes with 7 matches left and were on course for that win when Umaru Kasumba put them ahead in the first minute. They added a second early in the second and were cruising until Boniface Muchiri pulled one back for Tusker with 5 minutes to play.

A nervy Sofapaka were then outdone by a late corner from That levelled the scores with virtually the last kick of the game with Baraza furious to the referee for allowing play to continue beyond the time added on.

”The game was already finished but the referee allowed the game to go on for 3 minutes and that is how they got their second goal. I am clearly not happy with the referee because his decision has cost us the 3 points!” An angry Baraza said in his post match comments.

The draw means that Sofapaka are still 7 points behind leaders Gor Mahia who have a game in hand.
