Algerian Army Detains Deposed President’s Brother to Please Protesters

Algerian Army has arrested and detained the youngest brother of deposed Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika after massive protests hit the North African nation.

Intense pressure from the protesting Algerians led to the resignation of the country’s President after being at the helm of the oil-rich country for 20 years.

However, since Bouteflika suffered a stroke that reduced his movements to a wheelchair, his youngest brother Said Bouteflika, took reigns from the strongman.

While a section of protesters were happy the country’s leader had finally stepped down after a prolonged 20-year-rule, many of them continued protesting for an overhaul of Bouteflika’s loyalists from the government.
