Sofapaka blew a 2 goal lead to draw 2-2 with Tusker in a Kenya Premier League match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday afternoon.

Batoto Ba Mungu went ahead as early as in the first minute through Umaru Kasumba. The League top scorer was fouled just outside the box and planted a firm header into the net for his 16th goal of the season. Sofapaka could have added a few more goals in the opening period but some fantastic goalkeeping from the Tusker goalkeeper and Wayward finishing kept the score at 1-0 heading into half time.

The home team added to their advantage ten minutes into the second half through Brian Magonya who tapped home after a nice free flowing team move. Tusker awoke from their slumber and started stringing passes together but could not get past a strong Sofapaka defense.

Robert Matano’s side pulled one back through Boniface Muchiri with five minutes left to play setting the stage for a grandstand finish. With virtually the last kick of the game, Robert Aloyo’s strong header from a corner snatched a point for Tusker, much to Sofapaka’s despair. The draw leaves Sofapaka on 53 points, seven points behind leaders Gor Mahia.
