KOT pleads with the gov’t to write off HELB loans

Online Kenyans have called out at the government to write off HELB loans after it did it for the Kenya Airways Sh24.2 billion loan making it the biggest recipient of write-offs.

This came after budget documents presented in Parliament revealed that the government had written off the KQ loan to keep it afloat.

This came after Kenya Airways announced another loss of Sh7.5 billion in their 2018 financial year.

However, the write off did not excite Kenyans especially the ones who owe the Higher Educations Loans Board(HELB) which prompted them to plead with the government to write of Helb loans as well.

Here are some reactions

Do people who lie on their HELB application forms (and scholarship applications) have the moral authority to condemn Achieng?😂😂 Na msiseme you didn’t lie.— Red (@RookieKE) May 4, 2019

HELB is only 7B…. For heaven’s sake why can’t @CBKKenya @njorogep @HKRotich @SenMutula @Wetangulam @orengo_james @HonAdenDuale you write it off and relieve our youths? Jobs are hard to come by yet HELB continues to pile penalties on them…— WEKESA LEONARD (@Mkenya_Zaidi) May 4, 2019

Do miracles still happen in Kenya?
Then @UhuruKenyattah_ and @RailaOdinga kindly perform another miracle of writing off Helb loans since you have perfomed a miracle pale Kenya airways— Mzee mzima (@waswakelvin85) May 4, 2019

With the same spirit and energy the Government has used to write off the 24.2B Kenya Airways loan, let it be seen active on the 7B HELB loan.😄😄— Daniel M. Ndunda (@danmwesh10) May 4, 2019
